There are many Costa Rica rental properties for you to stay in while you are on vacation. These range from beach houses, villas, townhouses, apartments and many other types of accommodations. You can rent a small apartment for a few hundred dollars a month, but luxurious accommodations are much more expensive. You also have to know that many of these rentals are not furnished, but there is always second hand furniture for sale. You can resell it when you decide to leave. You can find everything to fit your budget, as well as having long or short term rental agreements.

There are advantages and disadvantages to using a Costa Rica rental agency to rent a vehicle to drive around the country.  Driving around Costa Rica will give you the opportunity to experience the charming villages, plantations, visits to the wildlife reserves and volcanoes and lets you see the many beautiful waterfalls and bridges. There have been many improvements made to the network of roads and road signs are gradually being added. The majority of people in Costa Rica do not find their way around using signs, but rely on landmarks instead.

If you decide to use a Costa Rica rental agency for a vehicle, it will be very convenient outside the city of San Jose. Inside the city, there is a lot of traffic and it is very difficult to find a parking space. If you intend to spend most of your time in San Jose, it might be better to rely on taxis for getting around, although most areas in the city can be reached by walking. If to travel and stay at various locations, then having a vehicle would be very convenient. The roads are narrow and steep through the volcanic valleys and it is common to find yourself stuck behind a cattle truck.

If you are on your own and want to avail of the service of a Costa Rica rental agency for a vehicle, you might find it expensive. A typical car would cost about $300 U.S. per week, but this price includes insurance, umlimited mileage, and taxes. The cost of gas is about $2.60 U.S. per gallon and there are not many gas stations. You shouldnt allow the tank to get down too low before you decide to fill up. Some areas are not accessible by car, so you need to look at renting a four-wheel drive vehicle.

The problem of having tourist vehicles stolen or something stolen from the car is an epidemic in Costa Rica. This probably accounts for the high cost of a Costa Rica rental. When you stop at a particular destination, you need to remove all your belongings from the car and leave someone to watch the car while you are sightseeing. You should never park the car outside on a parking lot overnight, even if it is well-lit.
